BCM639 - Grav-lift battle x2 with ten Marines

(7:43) Level 3 ('The Truth and Reconciliation') on Legendary. In this sixth pair of Legendary grav-lift battles with ten Marines, I start by trying out an extra-high sniping perch. Then for the second play things get more close-up and visceral, defending in the supply area with an AR and plasma pistol.

Released May 24th 2026, gameplay recorded May 20th-21st 2026.

Commentary

00:02 (Sniping on the blade) Having wondered whether I could get up on this blade-like rock, which I now just call "the blade", I found that I could do it with a simple grenade boost, although it was quite tricky because of the narrowness. After a little practice getting up, what you see here is my first actual battle there. Goes pretty well!

It turns out that the Marines spread out in a nice long line which looks quite believable, although they still engage in quite a lot of friendly fire. I take the opportunity to look down at them around 1:47, and they're also seen a few times later when covies get too close for comfort, which is when I switch to my plasma rifle. The most worrying such advance comes from wave 5 around 2:09. We lose a few Marines there, but at least get some breathing space when I greet the next wave with a good plasma throw around 2:27.

A few remarks on some other waves. Wave 2 around 1:26 is somewhat anomalous. The Grunts and covies appear to just blink into existence on the platform, while the Elite comes down smoothly a little later. Everyone gets blasted though, aside from a lucky Jackal. As for wave 8 around 2:48, you can see that they do some firing as they descend. You get that sometimes. Also of note, with wave 1 around 1:09, a Jackal comes down fast, well ahead of everyone else, and instantly starts pointing.

03:53 (AR & plasma pistol, supply area) The supply area is relatively bright and you also have the benefit of extra frags there, so I thought I'd base a defence there with AR and plasma pistol. Good fun ensues, with a few nice grenades along the way, my favourite being the frag on wave 3 around 5:33. That one kills most or all of the minors and shunts the Elite off the platform, where I finish him with AR fire.

Around 6:05 an Elite starts running for a distant Shade, but I bring him down with a plasma ball and AR fire.

Closing remarks Looks like I'll be releasing a 'freakiness and fun' movie next (I've got one pretty much shaped up), but after that I expect to continue the grav-lift battling, exploring yet more ways of playing it.
