BCM628 - Rockslide megabattle, hit and run x2
(7:13) Level 2 ('Halo') on Heroic. Strange that it's taken me so long to get around to this, but finally here's some rockslide megabattling in which I use hit and run tactics, moving around freely rather than defending in a particular place. Lots of potential! Two plays here. I'm using the same save as in the last two movies, but this time my 11-man squad is out of the action. The 34 covies are all mine to handle. Well, there is also a Marine on the plateau who features, but whether he does anything terribly useful is another matter!

Commentary
00:02 (Play 1, with central start) For this first battle I head straight into the central area, which is slightly infested with Jackals. Fortunately they're not quick enough to take down my shield, and I get off to a good start. Even better when I tag a red Elite, leaving two reds and four blues. For most of the battle I use a plasma pistol and needler, but near the end I pick up my pistol again.
Spot of plateau action around 1:53, with two Elites falling to my needles.
There's a bit of a mystery in this play, relating to the skirmish around 0:59 when I attack a group including three blue Elites. One of them is tagged and runs away screaming, and meanwhile I throw a frag which sounds like it kills the other two. So, three blues killed there? No, that can't be, as there are five Elite kills in other parts of the play, yet there are only seven Elites in all. I'm wondering if the tagged blue actually shed the plasma due to running into a rock (he did seem to be heading for one), and thus cheated death.
03:32 (Play 2, with hidey-hole start) This time I enter the rockslide at the 'hidey-hole'. That's a great place for conducting an entire defence (I've not yet featured the hidey-hole defence in any movies), but here I just exploit it briefly. I pick up a plasma rifle early on (which had been the plan), and for almost the whole battle I use a plasma rifle plus needler.
The best highlight of this play comes around 4:27 when I do a 'tag and hop' move on an approaching blue Elite, and there's a red so close behind him that they both swipe at me, missing, and the blast kills them both. Don't think I've ever had a double-kill like that in my movies!
Nice Grunt tag also, around 4:55, plus I enjoyed whacking two Jackals on the plateau, around 6:08.
Closing remarks Really crazy actually, that I didn't feature this battle plan a lot earlier. I put that down to my interest in high-intensity battling in a single locality. With hit and run, things are intrinsically more piecemeal, and although I've previously had good fun with it, that was long ago. I'm glad to've got back to it at last.
More hit and run fun coming next. I want to get some AR work going, for one thing.
