Commentary
00:02 (Play 1 - AR & 4 plasmas) My grenade use is limited to four plasmas here, so I need to do more work with the AR. I get caught by a plasma ball a few times, causing me to back off to recharge. There's an amusing bit towards the end when the first Hunter kills the final two Grunts for me. That was nice of him eh? I was deliberately trying to get him to do something like that.
02:29 (Play 2 - Speed play, plasma combo) Just to mention, my frag throw around 2:46 was intended to get the mass of covies in the first side-passage. Sounds like it worked. Doing that probably brought the Hunters into play faster than normal, because they no longer had that crowd in the way. That was the idea behind it anyway.
To mention one other move, around 3:41 I do a fancy reverse-dodge in regard to the Hunter. On reflection though, I think I would've done better to advance into the side-passage. Would've been less risky too!
04:15 (Play 3 - Gauntlet running, AR & needler) Remember that bit in the last movie where I made a brief and fatal trip to show the Hunters' initial location? That gave me the idea for this new type of play, in which you 'run the gauntlet' through that side-passage. From there, you're essentially in the same position as you would've been by circling around for a rear attack, except that you have no element of surprise of course.
After getting through, which included firing on a few Grunts to get them out of my way, I quickly throw a plasma before running off. Looks like it may've been on target to tag a Grunt, which I was trying to do. But at any rate there's a nice bang, which must've killed a good few covies.
I later make a reverse trip through the same side-passage, though it's a rather easier gauntlet this time. After doing a good fast clearing job on the covies up the rise, I'm left with just the Hunters to deal with, though actually I also take care of a few covies in the muster bay while I'm at it. I didn't even see the Elite who got killed. Enjoyed his death cry though!
Note: see the Grunt at 4:37 who starts moving my way? I think he was actually starting to head for the Hunters via my side-passage. Grunts and Jackals do gravitate towards them, which can sometimes override their instinct to head for the muster bay.
Closing remarks More Hunter plays next? One more batch perhaps. Maybe some more speed work; and I haven't used the sniper rifle yet! Let me see what I can rustle up.
