BCM658 - Rockslide megabattle, another three plays
(7:44) Level 2 ('Halo') on Heroic. Bit of a plateau theme this time. The first play here is a classic plateau front defence, then I get the covies approaching from the other direction for a plateau alley defence. Finally there's a near-suicidal new plan I tried, which I'm calling a plateau nexus hold-out. Good fun, if you're not horribly killed in the first 30 seconds!

Commentary
00:02 (Play 1 - Plateau front defence) A classic old battle plan now, probably second only to the far area defence in terms of how many hours of play I've put into it. The battle goes well, with both my Marines surviving. They enjoyed a good bit of grenade work towards the end, and I thought Johnson's "Cancel Christmas!" made for a good ending.
02:30 (Play 2 - Plateau alley defence) Another of my favourite battle plans now, as I get the covies mostly attacking up the plateau alley. Some explosive carnage ensues, with a couple of nice Grunt tags along the way. Almost all the covies approach from the desired direction, but near the end when I'm out of position polishing off a few Grunts down below, there's an attack from the rear which I have to rush back to deal with. Johnson is killed, needled by a blue Elite, but I do a bit of rear attacking myself and avenge his death.
05:37 (Play 3 - Plateau nexus hold-out) Finally here's a new idea I tried, which I've now detailed as a new battle plan. When trying it out I was mostly getting killed, but on this occasion I make it through, and surprisingly so does Johnson! Actually I thought he was going to be killed when I heard a grunty cry of "Heads up" around 6:56, but luckily the Grunt only succeeded in tagging the rock.
It was a while before I had enough time to pick up a plasma weapon. It was just the pistol, needler and grenades until finally at 6:33 I got hold of a plasma rifle. I immediately felt much better, and after a while I got a plasma pistol too.
