BCM637 - Grav-lift battle x2 with ten Marines

(7:57) Level 3 ('The Truth and Reconciliation') on Legendary. Continuing to show different ways of playing things, here's another pair of grav-lift battles with ten fresh Marines. The first is a sniping play, featuring a dramatic low view. Then in the second, the covie waves get a very toasty welcome, courtesy of one of their own Shades!

Released May 22nd 2026, gameplay recorded May 18th-19th 2026.

Commentary

00:02 (Sniping with dramatic low view) There's an early bit of amusement in this play as I eject the one mounted Shade gunner with a plasma grenade and snipe him in mid-air. But before long we're down to the main business of sniping from back near the entrance, practically level with the grav-lift platform, giving a dramatic low view of the covies there. My preparatory work wasn't ideal though, as I find myself with only two plasmas available. I'd hoped to top up from dead covies but half forgot about it, and time ran out.

Some of my grenade throws go a bit long as I'd only just started using this location (aside from having done so many years ago), but around 2:59 there's a nice tag on the wave 6 Elite to make up for it. My last grenade. I also score a mid-air double kill around 2:21, though the covies weren't up very high at the time. I think that sniper round also hit the Elite, because he goes into a defensive crouch as soon as he's down.

Had two Stackers on this play; the one I originally had, plus the sergeant newly arrived on the Pelican.

04:13 (Shade attack) Here's my first example of a Shade attack. I don't say I did the most efficient job of getting the Shade into position, but it was okay. As for the actual attack though, I get off to a bad start when I immediately take a plasma ball, exactly what you don't want to happen. I later go down to only two health bars, which is why I decide to bail after a Hunter shot sails past. I wasn't sure he'd continue missing (this is Legendary after all), and I didn't want to die after all the shooting I did.

A Marine throws an excellent frag around 5:43, taking out most of the third wave. You can see him up on the slope as he throws. "Catch!"

One thing you might notice in this play is that the covies can actually shoot as they're coming down. That's seen with wave 4 around 5:58. There's steep incoming fire from the Elite's plasma rifle, as well as from multiple plasma pistols, at least one of which belonged to a Jackal.

Closing remarks Two more ways of tackling things coming up next!
