BCM337 - Freakiness and fun, assorted clips

(5:31) Various levels and difficulties. My 26th 'freakiness and fun' compilation shows 18 freaky or amusing incidents, most of which occurred while recording footage for my usual movies - so you may recognize some of the situations.

Released March 6th 2019, gameplay recorded 2015-2019.

Commentary

00:02 (Dive death) This was a situation which occurred after I'd got the bridge Banshee stuck in the rim (you can hear it there) and had got a delayed checkpoint in the passage. I found that when I come back out, a Grunt moves onto a slope and can die if made to dive away from it. It's an example of what I call a dive death, whereby the victim seemingly gets killed by impact with the ground (you mostly see it with Grunts, but I've seen it with an Elite too). Making him dive was very fickle though. On this play it worked and I got a good close view. April 2016 footage. Level 5, Heroic.

00:21 (Stupido) Aiming to get some dead crewmen merged, I pause to let a Marine run off before I throw a plasma. But he seems to be staying put so I go ahead and throw. Then the idiot merrily runs into the blast and has the nerve to call me 'stupido'. Honestly, these bozos. June 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM290. Level 2, Heroic.

00:38 (Turret assault) I haven't yet done a cavern megabattle in which I'm up on this particular pipe, but here's a clip from when I was trying it out. A Hunter gets splattered by a Shade, heh heh. November 2016 footage. Level 5, Normal.

00:54 (Back-strike) The impact physics for that plasma sword are pretty loose, as this clip shows. Choppy gives it a swing and kills a Grunt standing a good way behind him. Impressive! January 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM330. Level 5, Heroic.

01:04 (Death spin) Going for a tower ascent, I unintentionally board the hog and get practically spun to death! Well, ok it was actually death from falling, but it seemed like getting spun to death. December 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM325. Level 2, Legendary.

01:18 (Retro needles) Firing needles out the back of a departing Pelican, I bail and watch the needles travelling in the same direction as the Pelican. You get this retro-travel effect sometimes when firing from a moving platform. February 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM220. Level 5, Heroic.

01:34 (Two in one) I got this freaky combination of passive covies by pushing the Grunt onto the Elite with a hog. This is a clip I got before I did a related clip in BCM313. October 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM313. Level 2, Heroic.

01:55 (Ghost of doom) Got myself killed by rocketing a Ghost, whoops! And then there's a chain reaction for good measure. Definitely a bad day at the office. October 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM315. Level 5, Heroic.

02:12 (Dive death 2) Another good example of a grunty dive death. This time featuring a Grunt on the rim of the cavern bridge. February 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM333. Level 5, Heroic.

02:33 (Perch bump) Trying to bump inside the lifeboat, I instead get freakily bumped onto a nearby rock. That only happened once, in hundreds of plays. October 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM314. Level 2, Heroic.

02:42 (I know you're there) Starting from my save checkpoint below the bridge, I knew there was a Grunt near the edge of the lower deck, who I could usually make dive off if I flew up at the bridge a certain way. Which is exactly what I do here. And of course, he makes a nice target for the fuel rod cannon! January 2019 footage from around the time when I was recording for BCM329. Level 5, Heroic.

02:53 (Tail tag) The valley Banshees have just spawned and I've been spotted. After tagging the lead attacker, I miss a throw at the second and it turns to fly away, but I catch it on the tail with a nice interception throw. August 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM307. Level 2, Easy.

03:14 (Direction flip) Eventually this Hunter shapes up to take a swipe at me but then gets flipped around by a plasma detonation from my tag, so he ends up going the wrong way and swiping air. Amusing. For another direction flip see the start of BCM273. September 2018 footage from when I was recording for BCM310. Level 5, Legendary.

03:34 (Dive death 3) Third and final dive death example. Playing Shark at the first bridge, my Banshee makes a small motion which provokes a Grunt on a ramp into diving. And hey presto, he's dead. Sometimes killing covies is too easy! February 2019 footage from a few days after my final Shark movie. Level 5, Heroic.

03:45 (Hot metal) One of the things I was doing with this pre-positioned Warthog was getting a nice view of the chain-gun's shell casings flying across my view, making a novel sight. This clip was the best I got. Lots of lovely hot metal. October 2018 footage from just after releasing BCM311. Level 2, Heroic.

04:10 (Roof rider) While making my escape from the Pillar of Autumn, I take a trip in a lift and find a grunty pest on the roof! But I soon get him shifted with my rocket launcher, heh heh. September 2015 footage. Level 10, Easy I think.

04:38 (Sword surprise) During some Shark play I saw the gold Elite perched on the edge, which is not uncommon. Just as I move in to taunt him at closer range, he leaps out and destroys my Banshee. I knew a jumping attack was a possibility, but this one took me by surprise. January 2019 footage from when I was recording for BCM329. Level 5, Heroic.

04:54 (Door runner) Had an odd situation here, as you can see. How did it happen? I'd been using one of my set-ups for the Grunt-Jackal spawning trick. I went to the muster bay's upper level and threw a grenade. The Elite there jumped off and I subsequently saw him running into the doors (you could probably duplicate this). I then went back around to the other side and had some fun, eventually tagging him on the nose. June 2015 footage. Level 3, Easy.

Closing remarks In regard to the three dive deaths, I'd been thinking to make a movie about that phenomenon some day, but time is ticking by and I don't think I'll be getting to that after all. That's why I've instead used some of my accumulated dive death clips in one of these compilation movies.
