BCM234 - Freakiness and fun, assorted clips

(5:31) Various levels and difficulties. Here's my 17th 'freakiness and fun' compilation, showing 18 freaky or amusing incidents, most of which occurred while recording footage for my usual movies - so you may recognize some of the situations.

Released May 2nd 2017, gameplay recorded 2015-2017.

Commentary

00:02 (Tree strike) While trying to get the departure circling anomaly, I instead got this striking (ho ho) example of the departure death anomaly. The pilot appears to die when he crashes the Banshee into a tree. You don't see that often; it's much more common to see a death after it crashes into cliffside. December 2016 footage from a day after releasing BCM209. Level 2, Normal.

00:22 (Rude awakening) In this cavern megabattle I give a sleeping Grunt a rude awakening with a plasma grenade lobbed from afar, and snipe him in mid-air for good measure. Plus I snipe a few of his buddies as a follow-up. There was a similar wake-up call in BCM206 around 1:05, but this new example has a much nicer and higher launch, thanks to the Grunt being tagged low down. November 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM206. Level 5, Heroic.

00:43 (What could go wrong?) A few days before I got busy recording my 'goldie fireworks' movie BCM213, I was playing around with this set-up. I tagged him with four plasmas, rocketed the tree behind him four times, then applied 59 needles. The result took me a little by surprise! Pretty good for comedy though. January 2017 footage. Level 4, Easy.

01:00 (Barrel roll) Ever done a barrel roll in your H1 Banshee? Not easy! But you can do it with a bit of assistance, as seen here where I bounce off the back of a dropship at the start of a spiral path megabattle. I was recording for a possible movie illustrating high position defence, but I aborted that and didn't get back to it until BCM222, in which I used the same save. November 2015 footage. Level 5, Heroic.

01:20 (Plasma return) Heading into this cavern megabattle, I throw a plasma at a Hunter but he appears to bat it right back at me, so I'm the one who gets tagged instead! I guess that's another use for his shield. January 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM215. Level 5, Normal.

01:36 (Rolling thunder) When I throw a plasma into this bunch of Grunts, it sets off an excellent chain reaction which comes rolling out and swallows the lot, aside from a couple of externals. Incidentally, if you're wondering what happened with my first plasma, it hit a dying Grunt and fizzled out. July 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM152. Level 3, Normal.

01:49 (Head trimmer) While messing around doing something or other, I happened to get a situation in which an Elite was up on a stanchion on the bridge, making a very inviting target. After a checkpoint, I had some fun making attack runs and killing him - such as here with this 'head trimmer'. January 2017 footage. Level 5, Normal.

01:59 (Pilot tag) Battling Banshees with Marines, I throw a plasma at the second Banshee when it comes back up the tunnel. As sometimes happens, it goes through and tags the pilot. He gets ejected and does a bit of mid-air growling before going bang. September 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.

02:12 (Scrape escape) While attempting a standard Shade ride with a newly refined routine, I get ejected after scraping the cliff. Not good! But I bounce off the chevron and then get cushioned by a rock, to survive intact. Lucky escape! March 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM173. Level 5, Heroic.

02:29 (Wasted journey) Firing across the chasm, a needle bang kills a red Elite but also makes a blue Elite mad, and he starts running to come and get me. But I track him through my sniper scope and eventually take him down with a nice headshot. November 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM206. Level 5, Heroic.

03:03 (Scary jump) Driving in the valley with Banshees in pursuit, I do a risky jump across the stream and my passenger seems a bit alarmed! Incidentally, you can also do that jump spinning the other way. August 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.

03:17 (Hunter team-up) Towards the end of a spiral path megabattle, I'm finishing off the covies up top and things are going well - until the Hunters in the pass unleash a couple of fuel rod shots with impressive synchronization. June 2016 footage from when I was recording for BCM186. Level 5, Heroic.

03:35 (Armless wonder) When a combat Flood reanimates and starts gurgling my way afresh, I switch to my shotgun intending to blast him, but then decide to just shoot his remaining arm off instead, and do so with my pistol. He should be harmless now. But as I run past, he somehow gives me a whack! February 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM219. Level 7, Normal.

03:58 (Hot seat) My plasma grenade sends a Shade spinning towards an arriving blue Elite, then my rocket sends it back. I don't normally board Shades, because they're death traps, but for once I make an exception and start blasting away. Unfortunately my fun is rather short-lived, because a Hunter shot sails in and ejects me off the bridge. See what I mean? Death traps! January 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM215. Level 5, Normal.

04:26 (Ambushed) Driving to some Marines in the tunnel at the bottom of the valley, an enemy Banshee manages to flip the hog. In the ensuing fight, my passenger is killed but I destroy both Banshees with the aid of tagging. You can see more plays like this in BCM187, except here I've got an AR rather than a plasma rifle. September 2015 footage from when I was recording for BCM157. Level 2, Legendary.

04:49 (Danger: falling Marines) Another cavern megabattle clip, but this time I'm using a Banshee. After blasting some minor covies on the left, I cruise along the platform and shunt a Ghost into the chasm. Then while following it down, a screaming Marine bounces off my Banshee, still alive. Not something that happens every day. I suspect he got caught in a blast, because a few explosions can be heard. January 2017 footage from when I was recording for BCM216. Level 5, Normal.

05:05 (Barrel roll 2) Another example of a dropship-assisted barrel roll, but this time I hit inside the fork. This play was about two weeks before doing BCM222. February 2017 footage. Level 5, Heroic.

05:16 (Overcooked) There was a goldie fireworks mishap earlier in the movie, and this second mishap occurred about two minutes later, after doing the same again to him. January 2017 footage. Level 4, Easy.

Closing remarks I almost released this compilation as BCM231, to act as an interlude to my stuff on the entry chamber. But eventually I opted to keep the entry chamber sequence going for a few more movies because I was keen to start releasing my stuff on force-launching. I'm still not finished with that chamber, but finally I'm getting this compilation out.
